Parent answer guide

Scratch for Kids

Should my child learn Scratch or Python first?

Scratch first is usually best for Class 3–5 beginners: colourful blocks teach sequences, loops, events, and conditions without typing errors. Switch to Python when your child can finish Scratch games confidently — often Class 5–7. Motivated older beginners can start Python directly with patient live mentors.

Why this answer

  • Blocks remove spelling and syntax as the first failure mode.
  • Kids see sprites move immediately, which keeps attention.
  • Scratch still teaches real CS ideas: if/else, loops, variables, broadcasts.
  • A finished game is easier to show family than a print() exercise.

Which path fits your child?

PathTypical age / classWhat they build

Python with AIClass 3–12Next step after Scratch

What should parents do next?

If your child is new to coding and under about Class 6, start with Scratch. If they already type and like puzzles, skip to Python. A free session confirms the call in 45 minutes.
